3 ways to simplify life

SIMPLIFY

Why the need to declutter?

To simplify is to strip away the non-essential, to be able to put your energy, focus, and time on the things that matter to you the most.

If you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, stretched thin, close to burning out, now is the time to re-evaluate your life, re-prioritise, let go of things, and organise your time and space.

How to streamline your life

Physical Space:

Declutter your wardrobe, ruthlessly!  Donate.  Get inspiration from Marie Kondo.

Your home environment, workspace, car

I’m big on regularly decluttering my home, it simply allows me more focus and less distraction.  At times my easily attached brain finds it challenging to let go of the boys’ baby clothes, toys, and books, so I tell myself ok at least 1 or 2 items this round!

Mental space:

How can you take things off your to-do list altogether?

Do you need to do meditations to cease the incessant thoughts?

Thanks to motherhood, I’ve been ‘forced’ to simplify my social circle.  Not by totally cutting away friends and family, but I see it as a pause.  Our paths may cross again, and it doesn’t mean I appreciate them any less.  It merely means my priority at this stage of life is family and motherhood.

Emotional space:

Is there anything you need to say no to?

Do you need to make fewer commitments?

Life has also ‘forced’ me to let go of relationships that are not a match.  And instead allow space for people who are indeed compatible and a truer fit to my heart.  This makes commitment an actual pleasure and sacrifice even feels good.

Returning to your self

Simplicity is about truth, and about values.  Your truths, your values.

We ought to start actively finding ways to simplify our lives, if not, our bodies will do it for us, and life will do it for us.  Oftentimes through disease, sickness, and heart breaks.
